India’s chase began strongly as Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag added a century opening stand. But a flurry of wickets put England in the driver’s seat and India were under immense pressure. Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh rose to the occasion, scoring 87 and 69 respectively, helping India win by 2 wickets with three balls to spare. Sourav Ganguly celebrated the win by taking his shirt off and spinning it wildly while standing at the Lords balcony, something which has become an iconic moment in Indian cricket history....

Romain Grosjean and Mark Webber finished in third and fourth position respectively while Lewis Hamilton was able to manage only a fifth place. They won the Mixed team gold in Compound Archery, by beating India in the finals....

It was another injury scare for Juan Martin del Potro during his 3rd round match against Borna Coric. At 5-4(30-40) in the first set, while returning a rally shot from Coric, del Potro slipped on the court in what looked like a rough fall. He sought medical attention one game later (was uncomfortable and ultimately got broken), and finally retired after he lost the first set 5-7. This marks a 5th career Masters 1000 quarterfinal for Coric who sets up a quarterfinal against Matthew Ebden....

Rain-affected games can often add spice to cricketing contests. However, there is also a risk of the game getting called off altogether. South Korean President Park Geun-hye declared the Games open in front of International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Thomas Bach at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium. The 17th Asian Games, which will run till October 4, offers 439 gold medals in 36 sports. The Incheon Asiad are the third Games to be hosted by South Korea after 1986 Seoul and 2002 Busan. The Asian Games were first held in 1951 in New Delhi and China and Japan are the only two nations to have finished first in the medal standings in every edition since then....
