The men’s event also saw a Kenyan finish first with Eliud Kipchoge, winning with a time of 2 hours, 4 minutes and 42 seconds. In fact, the top four finishes in this category race on Sunday were all from Kenya.
Recently crowned Laureus Sportsperson of the Year with a disability Tatyana McFadden won her third straight London Marathon with a time of 1 hour, 41 minutes and 14 seconds in the women’s wheelchair category while the men’s wheelchair category saw a very tight finish with Joshua George, clinching it eventually. Interestingly, just one second separated the top three finishers in the men’s category.
Paula Radcliffe, competing in her Final London marathon, clinched the Selected celebrity category with a time of 2 hours, 36 minutes and 55 seconds while retired rower James Cracknell finished second with a time of 2 hours, 50 minutes and 43 seconds.
