Every winner since 2006 is in the field. They include Matt Kenseth, Trevor Bayne, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman and Kevin Harvick. Even 2001 and 2003 winner Michael Waltrip has a ride. And he has a guarantee of running in the Daytona 500, thanks to getting BK Racing’s No. 83 car.

This year’s race will be staged under NASCAR’s new rules governing aerodynamics and green-white-checkered finishes.

It will be the first race under the charter system that guarantees starting places for 36 teams and reduces the field to 40 cars. With 44 cars entered, four will not run the race. Open car drivers are Ryan Blaney, Robert Richardson Jr., Josh Wise, David Gilliland, Reed Sorenson, Michael McDowell, Matt DiBenedetto and Cole Whitt.

Qualifying will be determined by speed testing on Feb. 14 for the front row of two cars, and then by results from the Can-Am Duels on Feb. 18.

Coverage of the 58th running of the Daytona 500 begins at 1 p.m. ET on Fox, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
